Was curious what the interest in an Atlantis RPG would be here

Post 2 by Coldshadow (supreme commander of the shadow fleet) on Thursday, 15-May-2008 19:18:05

hell yeah

Post 3 by Telemachus (Death: the destroyer of worlds.) on Thursday, 15-May-2008 19:43:59

Absolutely!! I'd be all for it. And an SG1... hey, a crossover.

Post 4 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Thursday, 15-May-2008 20:05:53

Well feel free to post your ideas, would you like it as a game like Miriani or like a website RPG like on livejournal or xanga?

Post 5 by battle star queen (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 15-May-2008 21:24:43

agree with all the posts.

Post 6 by rat (star trek rules!) on Thursday, 15-May-2008 21:32:57

not sure how'd i want it, but i'd love it.

Post 7 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Friday, 16-May-2008 0:26:15

Was thinking of doing this website based, any ideas are 100% welcome and will be considered if they are realistic.

Post 8 by Telemachus (Death: the destroyer of worlds.) on Friday, 16-May-2008 0:30:19

Something website-based would be good. And I think... well, I think it should be an RPG in terms of interacting with other characters, but I think it should be possible for you to go off and do things on your own, without necessarily having to interact with other characters. Before I give more input, I'd like to know... do you want SG1 ideas, atlantis ideas, or both?

Post 9 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Friday, 16-May-2008 0:41:52

this is mainly an atlantis RPG but I will include certain parts of SG-1 but mainly its Stargate Atlantis

Post 10 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Friday, 16-May-2008 0:43:32

so give me mainly atlantis ideas but include a few SG-1

Post 11 by Telemachus (Death: the destroyer of worlds.) on Friday, 16-May-2008 0:46:24

K. Oy. How much detail do you want? Let's talk about the gates first.
For simplicity's sake, a semiextensive library of gate addresses should automatically be given to you when you create your character. However, there should be a number code-- 1 through 36 as there are 36 symbols on Lantian gates, that you can enter a random series of seven numbers to try and connect to other worlds. Also, other addresses to new worlds should be discoerable somehow as characters progress. And the gate to earth should only be accessible from atlantis. More ideas soon!

Post 12 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Friday, 16-May-2008 0:48:19

Ok if we do this on xanga or livejournal, how do we decide which gate addresses the characters orginally know?

Post 13 by Telemachus (Death: the destroyer of worlds.) on Friday, 16-May-2008 0:52:14

It could depend on where they choose to call home. If they're based at Atlantis, then they obviously have access to the Lantian gate libray. If they're from another planet, then they'll know addresses of worlds they've traded with, and maybe Atlantis's address. If someone plays a Wraith, um... I don't know. I have no idea how the wraith get their gate addresses.

Post 14 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Friday, 16-May-2008 0:58:35

hmm good idea, I've decided that the hosts, will be called Ancient Council and if done on a blog site will have the authority to shape and shift the roleplay from the wraith attacking to defending the Atlantis Base

Post 15 by Telemachus (Death: the destroyer of worlds.) on Friday, 16-May-2008 1:00:31

Speaking of Ancients... are we going to have them be playable characters? Or will the hosts be the only ones who can have the title ancient?

Post 16 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Friday, 16-May-2008 1:05:03

having decided, I'm leaning towards only the hosts, but I might open the ancients to special others when a plot calls for such

Post 17 by Telemachus (Death: the destroyer of worlds.) on Friday, 16-May-2008 1:06:31

I think that's a good idea. especially considering how rare they ar ein sTargate itself. We wouldn't want a flood of Ancients.

Post 18 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Friday, 16-May-2008 1:08:40

the hosts would consist of 6 people whom will be the only remaining living of their kind and they may have more than host accounts on the RPG given that this will start out most likely on a website like xanga.

Post 19 by rat (star trek rules!) on Friday, 16-May-2008 11:08:39

don't forget however that SG1 will have to come in to play after a while, because if it weren't for SG1, atlantis would never have existed.

Post 20 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Friday, 16-May-2008 13:24:43

SG-1 will be part of the game, but in an limited role. And I am thinking of doing SG-1 like the ancients and opening them up only when the plot calls for it. But SG-1 will be in this RPG

Post 21 by rat (star trek rules!) on Friday, 16-May-2008 14:56:40

this sounds like a really intresting idea for a game. as i said before, i'd love to be in it, and i know a lot about stargate both SG1, and atlantis. i'd be willing to help if you needed it.

Post 22 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Friday, 16-May-2008 15:03:35

I will be looking for my ancients soon...really soon and I havent decided between xanga or livejournal yet.

Post 23 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Friday, 16-May-2008 19:51:54

ok folks I cant decide and before I choose my ancients, I'd like to know if you would like it on xanga or livejournal.

Post 24 by kool_turk (This site is so "educational") on Friday, 16-May-2008 22:40:04

Why go to all the trouble? I found this on mud connector. http://www.mudconnect.com/mud-bin/simple_search.cgi?Mode=MUD&mud=Stargate:+Atlantis+MUSH
I tried connecting using mushclient, but couldn't make sence of it. perhaps you have to create a character to explore properly, but it does let you log in as a guest to take a look around. I'm putting this up here to see if anyone else has better luck with it.

Post 25 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Friday, 16-May-2008 22:47:20

mushes dont often have things to go and kill, eventually we want to take this from the Website to the MUD and combine both SG-1 and Atlantis to form a game that has never been seen before, there is only about 3 website games that have ever gone from website to mud and we'd like to be the 4th once it is started

Post 26 by rat (star trek rules!) on Friday, 16-May-2008 23:35:14

it depends on what is more workable for screen readers for the host

Post 27 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Saturday, 17-May-2008 0:11:51

live journal is the better due to it having audio captcha.

Post 28 by rat (star trek rules!) on Saturday, 17-May-2008 11:38:39

that's what i'd vote for then

Post 29 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Saturday, 17-May-2008 11:48:59

I've created a main atlantis rpg site and community on live journal. http://atlantisrpg.livejournal.com/

Post 30 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Saturday, 17-May-2008 11:52:16

will give the community address when I get that but if you want a character in this rpg please do it in this style character_atlrpg this is for your username, so do your characters first name.

Post 31 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Saturday, 17-May-2008 12:10:45

if you need any help, see me here. also if you join please post your character here so I know

Post 32 by the illusive man (my ISP would be out of business if it wasn't for this haven I live at) on Saturday, 17-May-2008 14:41:47

hmmm it would be a good idea to have it not like a mud. This would still have text and all, but say this becomes a big earner. I would have a client to maybe add patches or something of nature

Post 33 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Saturday, 17-May-2008 15:02:51

well the idea of a website based rpg turning into a mud was the orginal idea because on websites all you can really do is rp.

Post 34 by rat (star trek rules!) on Saturday, 17-May-2008 15:24:40

that's true

Post 35 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Saturday, 17-May-2008 16:28:01

Alright folks here it is, the rp is open on live journal and as we speak the process of turning it into a mud has started lets all enjoy ourselves

Post 36 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Monday, 19-May-2008 0:00:19

now taking characters, follow the intructions here and pleaSE HAVE at least a small amount of knowledge of stargate

Post 37 by Coldshadow (supreme commander of the shadow fleet) on Monday, 19-May-2008 5:41:15

I think for this based type of thing, even considering doing it on a website isn't good.
For is complexity it needs to be a mud, coded from either pennmush, tinymux, moo, or any of the mud programming languages out there.
If your doing it website based, your not getting the full complexity of what stargate is, and your players aren't getting that full experience.

Post 38 by rat (star trek rules!) on Monday, 19-May-2008 12:02:10

this is only for starters, we never said it was going to stay on a web site

Post 39 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Monday, 19-May-2008 19:16:46

We are only starting on a website, as stated above in one of my posts, this is already been started in being coded into a Mud. Coding a mud is a slow and hard process. So I opted to let folks RP with it until its ready for public beta

Post 40 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Wednesday, 21-May-2008 4:16:51

ok I'm still taking ideas and if you join or plan on joining please tell me who you are so we dont get two of the same character

Post 41 by Coldshadow (supreme commander of the shadow fleet) on Friday, 23-May-2008 0:22:00

Hmmm, think I'll wait till the mud version is out.

Post 42 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Friday, 23-May-2008 2:23:54

I respect your decision to do that but if you change your mind then your welcome to join us sooner

Post 43 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Tuesday, 27-May-2008 8:22:13

ok while this is being coded, those that want to join the stargare fan google group may do so at http://groups.google.com/group/atlantisfans/

Post 44 by the illusive man (my ISP would be out of business if it wasn't for this haven I live at) on Monday, 02-Jun-2008 23:17:32

true, true. But I don't think that there should be one update and that's the end. I think that when the mud is out, continue to make updates for it

Post 45 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Monday, 02-Jun-2008 23:19:27

well I'm going to use the google group and a new website is coming soon for the mud part for updates

Post 46 by the illusive man (my ISP would be out of business if it wasn't for this haven I live at) on Tuesday, 03-Jun-2008 18:36:02

exelent! What's the sight/?

Post 47 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Thursday, 05-Jun-2008 19:10:22

give it to you but currently I'm working on stuff trying to get a few things working somewhat

Post 48 by the illusive man (my ISP would be out of business if it wasn't for this haven I live at) on Thursday, 05-Jun-2008 21:51:07

okay, that's cool, but when you get things worked out, will ya give it to me?

Post 49 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Thursday, 05-Jun-2008 21:52:02

sure

Post 50 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Wednesday, 23-Jul-2008 22:21:20

Now for your pleasure, the stargate atlantis/SG-1 google group can be found at http://groups.google.com/group/atlantisfans

Post 51 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Thursday, 30-Oct-2008 2:15:09

Ok this is coming around really slowly as a mud, if your interested in doing it currently as a website RPG while I'm coding the mud please respond here or send me a private message.

Post 52 by Coldshadow (supreme commander of the shadow fleet) on Thursday, 06-Nov-2008 23:27:57

Hm, I'd focus more on the mud, and not worry about the website, and when you do get that mud up and running, your probably going to have one hell of a player base, Especially with the big rpers.

Post 53 by rat (star trek rules!) on Friday, 07-Nov-2008 4:35:05

well, if i can work in the game with my class work you know i'd stay with you. especially now since i've been able to catch up on some of my atlantis shows.

Post 54 by FlyingPhoenix (move over school!) on Monday, 10-Nov-2008 10:30:16

Well since for now this is going to a website based I'd love some ideas
